Some experiences stay with us long after the curtain falls.
When I first came to Canada, Toronto was more than a city I wanted to explore. It was where I was studying, working, adjusting to a new life, and slowly discovering experiences I once only imagined from afar.
Then one day, the magical world of Harry Potter came to Toronto.
And of course, I had to be there.
Looking back now, this wasn’t simply a night at the theatre. It became one of those little memories that reminded me how much my life had changed—and how many unexpected experiences were waiting for me in this new city I was beginning to call home.
Seeing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in Toronto had been a dream of mine for almost a year, but because of budget constraints, I kept putting it off for later. Finally, right after paying my last semester tuition fee, I booked my dream ticket and made my Christmas wish come true! So, there I was on one Christmasy afternoon at Dundas to watch Harry Potter characters live in Toronto!
I arrived at the theatre thirty minutes before the show, and I was mesmerized with the grandiose of CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre! It was my first time to enter a theatre in full red carpet, grand Victorian staircase, intricately designed walls, and majestic chandeliers. It is the best theatre to watch Harry Potter characters live in the city!
As soon as the show started with Harry Potter characters live on stage, I was greatly overwhelmed that tears were flowing from my full heart! I couldn’t believe I was there in a world-class theatre with world-class performance and world-class special effects! The entire show with the props which you wonder where the hell did that come from was ostentatious! T’was indeed a magical, exhilarating, and spell-binding experience! As a Disney song says, “unbelievable sights, indescribable feeling”, that’s exactly what I experienced like what I did while watching Beast and Belle dancing live on Disneyland stage! More Than a Night at the Theatre
Looking back, what I remember isn’t only the performance.
I remember the excitement of getting ready, walking through downtown Toronto, stepping inside the theatre, and realizing that something I had once only imagined was actually happening.
That’s one thing I’ve come to love about exploring Toronto.
Sometimes, discovering a city isn’t about visiting another famous landmark. It’s about the experiences that happen between those landmarks—a theatre performance, dinner somewhere unexpected, a walk along an old street, or simply looking up at buildings you’ve passed many times before.
Those little experiences slowly become part of your story.
And perhaps that’s why Toronto has become much more than a place where I once studied and worked. It became one of the places where I learned to notice just how much life was changing around me.

One of my favourite ways to experience downtown is through Old Town Toronto on foot, where historic streets, architecture, public art, restaurants, markets, and little discoveries turn an ordinary walk into part of the adventure.
It’s another reminder that sometimes you don’t need an elaborate itinerary to experience Toronto. You just need comfortable shoes, a little curiosity, and enough time to look around.
From One Toronto Memory to Exploring Ontario
When I first arrived in Canada, I had no idea how many places and experiences would eventually become part of my story.
Some were big adventures. Others were evenings like this one—a few hours in downtown Toronto that somehow became a memory worth keeping.
