Feature Friday: library@orchard

Feature Friday highlights businesses, people, fashion, and basically anything under the sun!

Books, books, books!  Oh, I sooo love books!  I’ve been a reader since time immemorial.  It expands my vocabulary, broadens my horizons, and takes my imagination away!  I always prefer books over gadgets.  Scrolling for me drains my mental facet so I’m always “yes” to printed text and “no” to onscreen text.  You might be surprised at this ‘coz you’re thinking that I’m a b/vlogger so I must be all techie.  Well, no.  Actually now, I’m disconnecting myself from too much social media.  I’m burned out at the moment so I’m back into reading books.  It’s way better than looking at family and baby photos of friends on FB’s news feed.  With books, I don’t feel depressed.

Anyway, during my holidays in Singapore last month, my sissy brought me to library@orchard one fine afternoon.  It’s located at the third level of Ngee Ann City along Orchard Road.  Amidst from the bustling and hustling streets of Orchard, there’s this hidden sanctuary for readers like me to indulge.  I’m not into shopping so this place is heaven for me than the boutiques and shops that surround.  You can very well find your peace and quiet moment here in this corner of a mall.  You may sit as you please and read anything you can for FREE!  From fiction to non-fiction, from literary pieces to coffee table books, from religious to self-help books, name it and they have it!

The library@orchard is divided into two, The Studio and The Loft.  The Studio is its level 1 wherein they have the magazine wall and fiction collection while The Loft is its level 2 wherein they have the four book trees of People, Space, Product and Visual Design collection clusters.  Do click my vlog below for a 360-degree tour of both levels!

In getting to the library@orchard, the nearest MRT station is Somerset.  Opening hours are 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM Mondays to Sundays.  Closed at 5:00 PM on Christmas’, New Year’s, and Chinese New Year’s Eves.  Closed on public holidays.  They also hold activities like storytelling and poetry reading.  For more information, visit there official website here.
